On April 28, 2026, the 3rd working meeting for the Osijek-Baranja, Virovitica-Podravina, and Vukovar-Srijem counties was held at the Visitor Centre The Drava Story, with the aim of actively contributing to the drafting process of the National Nature Restoration Plan of the Republic of Croatia.
The meeting was organized by the Public Institution for the Management of Protected Parts of Nature and the Ecological Network of Virovitica Podravina County. The meeting was attended by representatives of Croatian Waters (Hrvatske vode), Croatian Forests (Hrvatske šume), the Vukovar Regional Inland Waterways Office – Inland Navigation Directorate, as well as representatives of three public institutions: the host, the Public Institution for the Management of Protected Parts of Nature and the Ecological Network of Virovitica Podravina County, the Public Institution Agency for Management of Protected Natural Values in the Osijek-Baranja County, and the Public Institution for the Management of Protected Nature Parts of the Vukovar-Srijem County.
During the meeting, a detailed discussion was held on the Proposal of Areas and Restoration Measures for the draft National Nature Restoration Plan of the Republic of Croatia (NPOP), focusing on the review of the proposed locations within the Virovitica-Podravina, Osijek-Baranja, and Vukovar-Srijem counties. Special attention was given to aligning the proposals among all relevant stakeholders, including sectors responsible for water, forest, and waterway management, as well as public institutions for the management of protected areas.
It was concluded that in the upcoming period, all participants will further analyze the proposed locations and measures. Following this, the next meeting will focus on their further development and harmonization, aiming to formulate a joint proposal for the draft National Nature Restoration Plan of the Republic of Croatia.
By holding this third working meeting, the continuity of cooperation among institutions has been maintained, further ensuring a high-quality and coordinated drafting of the National Nature Restoration Plan of the Republic of Croatia. The next, 4th working meeting, is planned for early June 2026 and will be held in the Vukovar-Srijem County.
