Today, February 3rd, 2021, following the prescribed epidemiological measures, and on the occasion of the World Wetlands Day, the 50th anniversary of the Ramsar Convention, and the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Ramsar Convention by the Republic of Croatia, as a part of the Amazon of Europe Bike Trail project, DTP 2-002-2.2 and the DaRe to Connect project, DTP2-007-2.3, the Public Institution for Management of Protected Parts of Nature and Ecological Network of Virovitica-Podravina County organized a winter cycling tour called Winter Wetlands Bike Tour.
Before the start of the cycling tour, the director of the Public Institution for Management of Protected Parts of Nature and Ecological Network of Virovitica Podravina County Tatjana Arnold Sabo, greeted the everyone present and gave a presentation the World Wetlands Day 2020.
Furthermore, employees of the Public Institution and members of the project team, Antun Damjan and Sanja Janković presented the winter count of waterfowl in the Virovitica Podravina County, whose locations are in the implementation area of the Amazon of Europe Bike Trail and DaRe to Connect projects, as well as activities of the Public Institution in this 2 projects, realized so far and planned for this year.
The cycling tour started at the Visitor Center The Drava Story in Noskovci, and the cyclists then passed along a part of the future cycling route that is located along the Drava River in the area of the Čađavica municipality.
During the ride, participants passed through a wetland area and stopped at the places designated for visitors’rest with the direct access to the Drava River.
